WHAT IS HALAL?

HALAL:

Halal is an Arabic word that means “permitted.” This concept applies to all facets of life.

Halal Authentic Certified offers a standard that is limited to food, meat, personal care, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical products. These standards include the product ingredients, contact materials, and handling processes.

All foods are considered Halal except the following sources:

  1. Swine/Pork and its by-products
  2. Animals NOT slaughtered according to the Islamic method, or dead before slaughtering
  3. Alcoholic drinks
  4. Carnivorous animals and birds of prey
  5. Blood and blood by-products
  6. Items that come into contact with any of the materials from the categories listed above

Meat and poultry should be processed according to Islamic requirements, which are commonly referred to as “Zabiha” or “Dhabiha.” “Zabiha” refers to the slaughtering of an animal or bird by a Muslim according to Islamic requirements. In the United States and Canada, Halal meat must also meet all federal and state meat inspection laws before it can be sold.
